Editing

For how much I enjoy working on set and creating striking projects from the ground up, I am still a video editor at heart. This is what I am my most comfortable at, the skill that I took years to hone in and where I very much find myself at home.

I’ve been editing all my own woks, and editing was my main occupation during my residence at Oculus Film, for which I worked on a variety of films.

Future Regrets

Academic project

Short film developed in conjunction with the undergraduate thesis titled “Narrative Complexity and Audience Perception in Nonlinear Filmmaking”, employing nonlinear timeline of events. The film structure was carefully constructed in pre-production, as the intricate canvas of the narrative required methodical planning. Nonetheless, a great effort was put into the editing phase of the project, as this style of narration requires ambiguous yet carefully crafted ordering of shots and general pacing.

Role: Concept, text, A.C., editing,

As well as conceptualising this film, I undertook the editing. While shooting we did not have a clear story line and sequence of events, so the possibilities in the edit were wider. Nonetheless the main focus was to both find the best shots to showcase the set of lenses used (as this was the primary goal of the film) while also creating an interesting visual narrative. Produced by Oculus Film.

ROE Visual

Role:
Co-writing, A.D., editing

An Oculus film branded company video. I thoroughly enjoyed re-constructing the film in the edit, letting the fragments I had envision in the creative process come to surface, also having been on set to see them come to reality

WeRace

I created promotional short reels for WeRace, and editing was inevitably a crucial part of the process, sorting through the footage captured to find the shots best fitting in the sequence to communicate the excitement and strong points of the band.

ULRM Showcase 2019

A promotional video intended to showcase the activities offered by the Racing and Motorsport Society at the University of Limerick, used at public events, recruiting drives and on its social media pages. The use of quick cuts synchronized to the music (from a copyright-free library) was found to effectively convey the emotions related to the activities advertised.
